In a research done at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, they found shocking results pertaining to this topic. They conducted an experiment where they brought in 40 youngsters ages ranging from 3-8. The children were given an afternoon nap, after waking up the children were performing at a higher rate on a visual-spatial task.

The results were that the children retained 10% more of the information than prior to being offered afternoon naps. In much detailed look at this experiment, the researchers found out that during their nap they would experience increased activity in brain regions that is connected to learning and integrating new information

An afternoon nap will most definitely help your child as suggested by Dr Robert Scott-Jupp of the Royal College of Pediatric and Child health. Suggestions on this topic is that children would naturally drop their dayt ime sleep as they grow old. It is better to develop this habit at a younger age.
